online update in suse 11.1 problem

Hey guys
I’m new to linux,
I think my problem is different,
I installed opensuse 11.1 x86_64 today successfully
I’ve set up my internet connection through PPPoE successfully
I can access all the sites, like normal internet conection
but I cant access suse sites like

openSUSE.org
en.opensuse.org/
forums.opensuse.org/

when I enter these sites i got errors - page unavailable
that retry stuff in firefox.
but i can access it through xp/vista without prob.
so I’m unable to update my system at all,
I haven’t configured nvidia driver, ntfs write support and codecs, etc. nothing updated.
:frowning:
not only that,
when i open yast for installing the rpm, i get an error
“installation media cannot be read”
but I checked media many times it says its ok,
also i dont have any problem about my DVD writer,
works in windows without prob.

Hi,

I had this same issue. Disabling IPv6 in YaST Network Devices seems to have resolved it. Follow these steps:

  1. Open YaST. Click Network Devices on the left.
  2. Click Network Settings on the right. You may get a message warning you about NetworkManager. You can ignore this.
  3. If it doesn’t appear automatically, click the Global Options tab.
  4. Under IPv6 Protocol Settings, clear the Enable IPv6 check box.
  5. Click OK to confirm the new settings.
  6. Reboot to turn IPv6 off.

Now YaST and the openSUSE.org site should behave as expected.

This is probably a bug, but I haven’t had a chance to check Bugzilla to see if it’s been filed. Please let us know if this works for you.

Best of luck with openSUSE. It’s a great distro!
