I’m wondering why my Open Suse 12.2 system cannot be updated online to version 12.3. The computer has received many updates over many months to both the OS and its apps, but the OS version remains static at 12.2, apparently.
I have been doing some digging in these forums, and have found the following about my system…
Yast shows under Online Update → Repositories → these available repositories:-
@System
Packman
openSUSE-12.2-Non-Oss
openSUSE-12.2-Oss
openSUSE-12.2-Update
openSUSE-12.2-Update-Non-Oss
Under Configured Software Repositories' those marked
*’ above are Enabled and Auto Refresh is activated.
When I issue `cat /etc/os-release’ it shows → VERSION=“12.2 (Mantis)”
I cannot see any OS version info in /etc/default/grub.
What do I need to do please? Chooka

You need to edit your repos to 12.3 versions obviously
But your explanation is a bit lacking in detail, perhaps you could elaborate ?

As Caf said there is no auto-magical upgrade you got to set things to point to the new repos for the version you are upgrading to. Also you should disable all but the base repos during the upgrade. But in the end all repos should point to the 12.3 version. BTW 12.3 is near end of life

Thanks for confirming that, suspected that might be part of the answer.

I suspected that pointing the repos to the 12.3 sites might be part of the problem. I’ll disable repos as you have suggested.
Thanks for your reply!
