Online Help & openSUSE icons are locked on desktop

Hello, can anyone help me with deleting or removing two icons - Online Help & openSUSE. They are locked and I’m unsure how to proceed.

I am using the Gnome desktop if that helps.

They are probably global files that are there for everybody’s use. I
think (untested) that they exist in /opt/gnome/share/dist/desktop-files/
as the various .desktop files. You’ll need to use sudo or otherwise
become powerful to move/delete them. I found these using the following
command:

find /opt/gnome -iname ‘*.desktop’

Good luck.

I noticed that too! Its really annoying!!!

Even trying to move them causes a fuss…

Right, I just logged in as root,

went to the folder:

/usr/share/dist/desktop-files

and it let me delete those two annoyances for good.

Excellent… thank-you for posting back your results.

Once I’ve logged in as Root, what command do I use to get rid of them?

‘rm’ is typically the command of choice, but you could also move the
files somewhere else just in case you get the wrong ones and want to put
them back.

Good luck.

Can someone actually paste the command for me?

I know it’s linux-uhus:/usr/share/dist # but what next after that?

I just logged out and logged back on as root. Then browsed to the folder and deleted them. I think its much easier to do that than work out the terminal command…

I finally managed to delete those pesky icons from the desktop by using this command sudo chmod -R 777.

Thanks to eveyone who replied, much appreciated. rotfl!
