I started a thread on “applications” called “Need a tool to crack a rar password”, and it got deleted.
I didn’t receive any Private Messages so I assume the situation is worse than I thought. In this case, sorry for the inconvenience, but I really need to decrypt that file. If this subject is not permitted here in the forums, again, sorry for the inconvenience, mods can close this thread (although I’d like some details on why it got deleted first). It won’t happen again.

It’s being discussed by staff. Please be patient while we decide what to
do - there’s no need to PM staff or post another thread saying “I’m
trying to do this and my thread was deleted” (it actually was unapproved,
but that’s neither here nor there because you can’t tell that).
Our T&Cs do prohibit the discussion of cracking tools (openSUSE legal
docs, “Rules of conduct” section, linked from the FAQ).
So I do not recall the incident, but in fact we are not here to promote the ability to crack any software. We are here only to help with and promote the usage of openSUSE. I feel certain that you can find other forums more helpful in this task and only ask that you look around for a more appropriate forum to post questions about rar. I must also apologize to you because you indeed should get a PM in any case that we would remove your post. While again, I am not familiar with your case, I can admit to other occasions where an attempt to move a forum message may have sent it to outer space and so perhaps that happened here, but I am not sure. I would say we do want you to use the forum and ask any questions about using and setting up openSUSE, but this is not the place to seek advice on software cracking in my opinion.
No problems. I recognize my mistake and I’ll give a read on the forum rules. I was just trying to get a tool that worked on openSUSE (like this one. Or if the link is also not permitted [mods feel free to delete it], rarcrack, on sourgeforge.net).
Imagine if you were asking a similar topic, like: How can I hack in to my neighbours wireless?
We can’t permit such discussion to be supported, it’s illegal.
Now of course the archived file you want to crack may be yours, but we can’t possibly know that for sure…
In all honesty, there are some well known search engines that should help you in your pursuits.
Just pointing out that I got what you’re saying, but the hypothetical situation you described does not fit this or that thread. It would be more “calling a locksmith in order to get MY house opened after losing the keys”
I don’t think that asking for help on decrypting a personal file is illegal, but this is for you to decide, of course, based on the rules. There’s no right infringement since I can prove that I own the file, I can say what contents are inside some of it’s files, describe personal chats that are stored in there, say what photos and what documents are and show other files that are in the same cloud account, which uses the same email as the one used to register my account here.
I’m too much of a pain when it comes to subjects like this, but try to look by my eyes, that file is really important to me and that’s why I created that thread.
Nevertheless, I don’t want to extend this subject so I’m gently asking for mods/admins to close this thread.

try this command line tool but it may take for ever if password is too long http://software.opensuse.org/package/rarcrack
