on openShot 2.5.2 :: not able to play any simple sound files - what do i miss here?
after 2 years i just started to work with openshot again - i installed the newest version of openshot 2.5.2 - of today nov 20 2020
i added some files with the import function -
mp3
originalfile
ogg-vorbis
When trying to play them - in order to hear the audio-track i failed - in other words. I am not able to
play the simple audio-track of a downloaded youtube clip - no way - i tried all the different versions of the youtube-clip … but openshot does not play the files…
what should i do now!?
what do i miss - how to test if i just need some more things - eg. some audio codecs or somethings alike
How did you install 2.5.2, when that hasn’t been released yet? There is 2.5.1 DEVELOPERS version 2 (complete with bugs they’re still working on), but the latest version is 2.5.1. You don’t say how you installed it, because there’s a source-code version or just an appimage. You don’t say what codecs you already have installed either or if you can play sounds at all on your system. And have you read the docs on that software? Because just importing the files doesn’t do anything because you have to actually add them to a track before they play. Have you done that? You aren’t saying how you got that youtube clip either or if you’ve run anything to extract the audio or are just adding that file as is since there are several formats youtube uses. Whats the input file extension and type?

Yeah, the other poster is right you have to add it in the track.
There might be some quirks in the openshot package,
I am using tumbleweed and one zypper dup this week made me uninstall openshot to make the dup continue.
When I saw this post I reinstall openshot, it is working and have audio but if I try to click the preference
openshot crash or quit.
