On Gnome Desktop 'SLE Classic' Session is missing as a login choice.

Hi All,

I had installed some gnome-extensions. But after a package update most of those extensions get missing. Although I have the top panel with my favorite icons on it. But it does not move to the bottom of the Desktop where I want it to move. Earlier I used to log-in at the ‘SLE Classic’ session but that is missing from the choices. After clicking the ‘Button’ at the login, only the following session choices are displayed:
GNOME
GNOME on Xorg
ICEWM Session
TWM

None of these work to produce the bottom white panel which earlier ‘SLE Session’ used to display earlier on the Desktop.

Need guidance to get ‘SLE Session’ displayed or solve this issue by other means.

Hi All,

Working in Leap-15.2 Gnome Desktop.
Suddenly a problem with the file-manager has arisen in opening folders on the Desktop. When I open the home folder or any other folder on the Desktop, it does not open in the ‘Nautilus’ but displays it in a strange view. Unfortunately there is no provision to send an attachment with the thread; otherwise I would have attached a screenshot of this strange view.

Suggestions to get out of this problem will be most welcome.

For the screenpost, try susepaste.

Works also from the command line:

susepast -e 0 -n rsp2 <image_filename>

Others: please replace rsp2 by your own handle.

The name ‘sent by’ is not ‘rsp2’ but ‘rsp’.

Okay, good you did post the image on susepaste but I only could find it using the Recent button.

So this is the link: https://susepaste.org/43330342

It has the text “/home/rsp/Desktop/Screenshot from 2021-05-12 19-40-35.png” but not the picture itself.

Can you try again using:

susepaste -e 0 -n rsp2 "/home/rsp/Desktop/Screenshot from 2021-05-12 19-40-35.png"

and share the link?

Hi Malcolm,

Meanwhile I had to reinstalled Leap-15.2 due to another upset by Windows. That earlier problem has now disappeared.
There was yet another issue. While just experimenting and familiarizing, I had Right-clicked on the Desktop and selected ‘Show Desktop in Files’. There were some application icons on the Desktop. Those also turned into Files and could not be opened by clicking. By reinstalling this problem did not disappear.
How to revert to normal display of Application icons?

I am not on Gnome but on KDE if I read this page I think you just get a new window that shows the files in the Desktop. I think you can just close that window.
