Kmail on 4.3 bets after the updates from .85 to 90 has started crashing on
send again.
This was fixed a couple of weeks ago and now we have taken a step backwards
again.
Using the same settings, nothing changed at all, working great then updated
and sent a mail bang complete shutdown of kmail, no errors anywhere, no back
trace zip nada.
Oh and it still will not minimise to tray without eating 100% CPU on a dual
core, does not do it with kwin disabled and even if I enable it with no
effects it still hogs, all I have to do is restart plasma and all is fine
till I maximise and then minimise no other app has this prob with minimise
to tray.
Anyone know something I don`t?
I did get a backtrace and a bug report request, guess what… it could not
send it because kmail had crashed… catch 22 and as I don`t have the debug
info it would have been no good anyway…

Just tried a sending a couple of mails using .90 and no crashes. Now for the
buts:
After closing Kontact - and getting a proper cleanup for the first time in
ages - the restart failed. Twice. I’m back to starting Kontact by starting
Korganizer, saving the Kontact crash info that appears, then selecting
“restart”. If I’d selected “send debug info”, Korganizer would have started
alone.
The crash info appeared at least a couple of times, but not in the desktop I
was using so didn’t find it till later. Not very helpful!

Just doing a big KDE update at the mo so will check afterwards but I wonder
if maybe it is linked to the fact that I do not start Kontact or Korganiser,
I use kmail standalone I don`t need/use all the other stuff.
There were reports of kmail crashing on send before on the bug list but
unfortunately I can`t seem to find any at all now maybe I just have not hit
the right search term but I would have thought “Kmail crash on send” was
good enough
Will see what is working/broken in about 1 hour.
The most annoying bit is still the minimise prob hogging the CPU, it is the
only app that does this and just restarting plasma fixes it until it is
maxed and min again, still cannot find any errors even when started from
term.

Doh! “139” not “138”

No change with Kontact.
With desktop effects disabled and kmail setup to “enable systray” , no prob
With desktop effects and systray notification all CPU`s ( 3 now just dropped
a tri core phenom in ) are loaded, restart plasma and all is well again till
I max then min.

Sorry for late reply been doing the 4 letter word stuff* away from home.
This is with 11.1 with all updates and happens on my 64 bit machine, my
other 32 bit machines are fine.
Anyway just for the record I have now started using the mail plasmoid for
notification and only launch kmail to read/write mail if needed with the
systray option disabled, just one nit-pick there as well, the plasmoid will
not launch kmail even though it should (???)
