OFTEN FORMATTING HARD DRIVE IS A PROBLEM?

hi all…I love linux so i always like to try all the distros. Opensuse 11 is the latest one i tried.I like it.
Is often formatting hard drive kills the hard disk?If yes i will stop experimenting and will fix to one.( a friend advised not to do it often). Thanks in advance…

No more so than normal usage. These days when you format a partition it’s a high-level format where the formatter program writes the required metadata and directories to form a blank filesystem ready for the data.
