odd FreeNX behavior

I am admining a OpenSuSE 12.1 server that is using FreeNX to support the remote clients via nomachine. For some reason, I have to log in at the console (the local screen/keyboard) before anyone can connect remotely with nomachine. I tried adding: @reboot /usr/bin/nxserver --restart in crontab because at one point a FreeNX restart seemed to help. Another odd behavior: if I log off the local system console, it automatically kicks off everyone logged in through the nomachine client. I’ve never seen this sort of behavior before. I know there are FreeNX users on this forum - any ideas?

Thanks for the help!!!

I’m wondering if this is a problem with the system itself. Time for a reformat/install on root (but save the /home intact)?

OK, reinstalled OS12.1 - but the NVidia repo seems broken (error 400). Oh, well, maybe that doesn’t bother FreeNX to not have the nvidia driver?

OK, I traced this apparently to an old version of the FreeNX that is in the opensuse wiki. When I used the “one click install” version (from the X11 archive) then then things seemed to work correctly, after generating a new key. Of course, that was after a fresh reinstall of 12.1
