Odd behavior with emojis in Evolution (XFCE)

Hi,

I noticed in Evolution (on XFCE) that I cannot enter an emoji without first selecting the “Bus” emoji (the only one I can find to work), after which I can insert a “Smiley Face,” or whatever else. Instead I’m shown the “Square” character.

Known bug? Or am I missing something…

I rarely use emojis/emoticons, and I don’t mind entering a bus, deleting it and then using the one I want but I’ll file a bug report if this isn’t a known problem.

My settings in Preferences/Composer Preferences are set to Automatically Insert Emoticons and Use Unicode Characters For Emoticons.
