OBS software repository "strategy"

Hello everybody,
in the past we have build our own software packages at our “own” obs-appliance on premise againt the major software repositories of sles, eg. SLE_12 or SLE_15. For some time the major software repositories are not shown any more in the repository overview.
Is it still “supported” to build the software against the major repositories or what are the futures plans?

I have no idea how your private OBS instance was configured, you do not say where these “missing” repositories came from so what answer do you expect? I certainly see SLE repositories on build.o.o. Questions about your private OBS instance are better addressed to administrators of this instance. This forum is about OBS software and https://build.opensuse.org/.

Our private obs is configured to use the openSUSE.org (Remote OBS api url: https://api.opensuse.org/public).
But anyway it’s the same on https://build.opensuse.org.
If i go to my home repo, there is no repository for e.g. SLE12 or SLE15 shown (i mean always the repository for the major os version, not the service pack repositories)

Coming back to my question, what are the future plans/strategie about these repositories (SLE-15, SLE-12,…)? Is it still supported to build a package against the major os repository if i add them through “Meta Configuration”?

I still build packages vs openSUSE 13.2 with no issues using private OBS + meta trick.

Your home repo on your private OBS instance? Your home repo on build.o.o? Why do you expect to see this repository in home repo in the first place? I am sorry, but you really need to ask questions so that others can understand what you mean.

(i mean always the repository for the major os version, not the service pack repositories)

SUSE:SLE-15:GA looks pretty major to me.

what are the future plans/strategie about these repositories (SLE-15, SLE-12,…)?

This is user to user forum. If you need answer about SUSE plans/strategy, you need to contact SUSE.

On the home repo of “https://build.opensuse.org/”. I dont expect this repository in the first place, but i was suprised that it isn’t shown any more in the repository overview.

Yes thats the major version, but i only get this repo, when i manually edit the meta data. It isnt shown any more in the repositories overview by default. So my question, is it supported to do that?

OK, but where does the OBS get all the listed operating systems from listed in the repository overview? Why are some repos shown, other not?

Hi
When out of general support the Build Service Admins remove/add to the main list… all are still available via advanced/search (AFAIK, if not previously added to your project).

For SLE, use the backports repos is a better option, plus it will have some synergy with SUSE Package Hub.
