Nvidia update broke flatpak apps

What I have noticed so far is that flatpaks using nvidia driver is broken because the system nvidia driver has been updated to 580.126.18 while flathub only has 580.126.09 available (or 590.44.01).

BTW currently on nvidia open-driver branch. A prolly unrelated question: are nvidia-G07 packages mature enough for daily use? I "taboo"ed G07 since it had a kernel version mismatch problem the last time.

OK. All new flatpak apps are having problems for publishing right now.

Made account to also report this (and discuss). I notice that this breaks pretty much everything atm, absolute pita. I’ll roll back, but it annoys that the stem of all issues that are uncomfy all relate to nvidia.

Yep, the green goblin is the worst of of the bunch on Linux, AMD is better, apparently Intel has the best driver support! :blue_heart:

The usual FUD from inexperienced users…

One could have easily read the provided link and have seen that flatpak can’t provide any updates for libraries/apps atm due to build system hiccups…Nvidia is not the root cause for this…

And yet it’s only Nvidia with their proprietary version-locked userspace (no Mesa) that breaks things on every other update… :see_no_evil:
A project having a build problem is expected on a long enough timeframe, that it can cause Nvidia to break :chains:‍:boom: is a business/design decision that makes life harder for anyone unfortunate enough to use their products.

@pavinjoseph This is the first flathub issue I’ve seen/had, it happens, not much one can do, just like the openSUSE Build Service recent issues with DDOS’s (this has caused me more issues)…

Oh and not affected here on Tumbleweed, all good with the org.freedesktop.Platform.GL32.nvidia-590-48-01. I only see the issue on Leap 16.0, since I use the rpms, I could just use the run file and fix it…

There are updates available now, incl the nvidia package… 580.126.18.

Hmmm Tried 580.126.18 a little while ago had to drop back to 580.126.09 which works. Still on 15.6

Using proprietary driver. Maybe Open Source would work better???

Fixed:

I’m using it on Tumbleweed (run file) but had no issues as running 590.48.01, AFAIK flatpak installs the closed driver(?) Leap 16.0 is fine with the 580.126.18 flatpak version and 580.126.18 rpms proprietary (as this rebuilds on a kernel update).

~6 weeks left for leap 15.6…

I install Nvidia via RPM not flatpak. Is there something more needed?? Can not try again for a couple of days (busy)

No: https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Roadmap

I prefer installing flatpaks as my user, not system…

I use the run file here for my Nvidia components, so;

nvidia-590-48-01 org.freedesktop.Platform.GL.nvidia-590-48-01 1.4 flathub user

Not sure I will yet so yes it matters

It notes ```
580-126-09

New NVidia is ```
580-126-18

So have you upgraded the Nvidia host driver? Flatpak will match whatever is installed on the host system…

Tried but had to drop back to 09. But maybe slow updates to 15.6???

18 is broken here per Flatpak
