I’m using an HP 8510w with a docking station and an external monitor (Samsung 206BW). I am having no lucking getting the 1680x1050 resolution displayed on the external monitor in twinview clone mode - max options are 640x480 in nvidia-settings.
Anyone have a working xorg they can paste in here?
Hmm. I seem to be the only one with this issue. Can anyone verify that the nvidia drivers are pulling EDID correctly for their external monitor? I’m just trying to figure out why I can’t get a crisp picture on my external monitor. Wondering if it’s a timings setting thing or something like that.
Use sax to configure the external display…the Nvidia supplied one has never worked. (Though it gives me a max res 1024x768)
Try this:
Connect your display, (and detect it using the nvidia-settings tool). But set the resolution in sax2 ( You can find it in yast) - it works fine and allows any resolution. Also it allows to test and see if you properly set the external monitor up before saving.
Remember if all else fails, sax2 -r -m 0=nvidia
