NVIDIA - Terrible performance after update to driver 352.79

NVIDIA GTX 960. Was experiencing good performance in games. Yesterday’s automatic update to to driver version 352.79 has resulted in terrible peformance. Images look grainy. CPU races to over 90%. NVIDIA X Server Settings panel reports that “Performance Level” in “Adaptive Mode” climbs to level 3 then quickly returns to back to level 0.

A regression issue?

Something on my end that needs to be changed or updated?

Selecting “update” on the nvidia-glG04 package through YaST seems to have solved the problem.

I don’t know why the automatic update received yesterday caused it to break.

The NVIDIA repos were in flux very recently maybe you got a partial or failed update and broke the installed driver and the fall back drivers were used
