Just installed openSUSE 12.1 and went to add the nvidia repo to install their drivers but the operation failed. When I checked Nvidia’s website, the URL pointed to (ftp://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/12.1/) is missing and only folders for 11.2, 11.3 and 11.4 exist.
Any idea when the new repo will be added for 12.1? Or is it safe to use the 11.4 repo instead?

I would not use the 11.4 repo as 11.4 uses a different kernel release
(12.1 uses the newer 3.1 kernel release, 11.4 uses a 2.6 release).
Someone noticed that the community repos for nVidia weren’t ready (just
read a post on one of the mailing lists about this), so it should get
sorted out relatively soon.
Thanks for the link Mahol, building the latest driver release looks like the way to go but, I’m not quite ready for that just yet - still new to the scene
Jim, thanks for the heads-up, was hoping for the “simple method” to update the drivers so it’s good to know the 12.1 repo will materialise soon and it’s known about.
Although, it looks great to be able to create the latest drivers from Nvidia, I just need to do some reading up on whats involved before I go trashing a new install.
Nooooo, not at all, there have been a few other posts on
this issues as well and I’m sure more until it’s sorted, unfortunately
it’s in the hands of third parties so just need to wait <sigh>.
Now that’s what I’ve been waiting for. I added the Nvidia repository for 12.1, however it use to automatically select the proper driver for me. All I have now is several drivers to choose from and I don’t know which one to select. I’m running the 64bit Opensuse 12.1 and have a GeForce GT 530 card. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Joe.
