nVidia GF 7050 - driver causes system freeze.

Hi everyone,
I am relatively new to openSUSE but not to linux.

I have a problem with the nvidia driver from the repository (the proprietary one).

Whenever I do a test after changing the graphics card, the whole system freezes - need to do a cold reset. This happens even if I don’t test but just reboot, when it comes to starting X, the whole system freezes.

I have also tried installing manually using the NVidia guide for openSUSE, with the same results.

I am running Athlon X2 on ASUS M2N-VM DVI mainboard that comes with nVidia 7050 display card.

I also have PClinuxOS on another partition that runs perfectly well with nVidia drivers. The difference is that it is 32bit and running an older version of the driver. This driver version (169) is not available in the openSUSE repo.

Hope someone here can help me out here. I am a real fan of KDE and want to use KDE 4 in all its 3D glory.

Thanks.

Forgot to mention, I am running openSUSE 11.0 64bit edition.
