Nvidia Geforce 9600M GT is slow with KDE 4.1 - even with fix

So I have the latest drivers (177.80), latest kernel 2.6.27-rc8-14, latest KDE 4.1 from Factory repo, latest Qt from repo.

I have also tried the performance fix that everyone suggests I do (Add the pixmap and shm options in xorg, use the nvidia-settings command) and KDE 4.1 is still dirt slow to repaint parts of the screen. And what’s even more infuriating is that the xserver for some reason seems to be waiting for MOUSE MOVEMENT when it wants to repaint. Progressbars will completely stop unless I move the mouse cursor over it. Websites will not load unless I move the mouse over it. The little placement bar next to plasma widgets will not fade in or out unless I move the mouse over the desktop. Yakuake will not slide in or out unless I move the mouse over it.

…you get the idea. How the hell do I fix this? This is absolutely infuriating. I reinstalled with GNOME and KDE 3 before, but I just can’t stand it. I want to use KDE 4.1. Please help.

You’re using beta nvidia drivers and a non standard kernel i suggest getting the drivers or the 173.14.12 drivers from nvidia and kernel that ships with opensuse.

I have already tried the normal driver and kernel before. In fact I get better results with the 177.80 drivers than the 173.14 drivers. I can’t use use the standard kernel because I need the new kernel for the Intel Wifi Link 5100 wireless card.

Anyone? Has anyone gotten a geforce 9600m gt to work properly with nvidia drivers in KDE 4.1?
