nvidia drivers (part 2)

I am installing suse 11.1. I have an nvidia geForce 6200. I installed the latest nvidia drivers from the community repository through YAST.

When I reboot and am dumped into a command prompt. Just for kicks I did a startx and received the following:
NVIDIA: Failed to load the NVIDIA kernel module. Please check your system kernel log.

Any ideas?

You can access yast via a boot to level 3 and login as user then switch to su and type: yast

Or boot to level 3 become su and do
sax2 -r -m 0=vesa

reboot
will bring you back to a desktop in vesa

Or you could consider a manual install if you don’t get anywhere
