Yast’s Software Manager, otoh, also show updates to version 595.71.05 of the G07 driver packages and most of the other nvidia related packages (libnvidia-cfg, libnvidia-gpucomp, nvidia-persistenced, etc.). However, both the nvidia-open-driver-G07-signed-kmp-meta and -kmp-default are still on version 595.58.03.
Given the troubles I had previously (see Nvidia + Steam 32 bit woes after system reinstall ) I’m reluctant to allow the update. Why the mismatch between the nvidia and nvidia-open-driver versions?
Thanks
Ah yes, the inexplicable openSUSE process of publishing new driver version’s userland rpms without the corresponding kernel rpms (because that cannot be published until it has undergone “rigorous” testing) strikes again.
I’m running 595.71.05 here with the latest tumbleweed snapshot with the kernel 7.0.1-1
It is working here but it is a .run driver from nvidia unix driver
@ Coram
Thanks for replying.
So there’s no nvidia-open-driver package installed, I presume.
Also Leap 15.6 is running kernel 6.4.0, so it may be a problem for the kmp modules.
Solution (?) for now was to install version 595.58.03 for all nvidia-related packages and lock them. Since 15.6 is EOL new packages may not come. We’ll see.
