[nvidia] Driver Probleme

Hello,

I am trying to install my nvidia driver with Bumblebee but nothing is working. I have fallow this tutorial https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:NVIDIA_Bumblebee

and when I verifies if the driver works I got this error.

linux-7uyk:~ # optirun inixi -Gx 871.926719] [ERROR]Cannot access secondary GPU - error: [XORG] (EE) /dev/dri/card0: failed to set DRM interface version 1.4: Permission denied
871.926749] [ERROR]Aborting because fallback start is disabled.

Can anyone help me please. Thanks very much.

Did you try install the regular NVIDIA driver? Did you remove it before installing nvidia-bumblebee??

You may want to look at this thread

https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/511230-NVIDIA-Optimus-without-bumbleebee?highlight=optimus+bumblebee

That tutorial is useless.
Functional method is here
ultimate tutorial installing Bumblebee driver for SUSE - Hardware - openSUSE Forums.

Thanks for your time

I don’t know if I have install regular NVIDIA driver.

If I follow this link https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/511230-NVIDIA-Optimus-without-bumbleebee?highlight=optimus+bumblebee should I uninstall bumblebee and how do I do it.

Ask in that thread I don’t have Optimus device so can not test it. The people that re trying it are in that thread

Not sure how to respond that you don’t know if you installed the NVIDIA driver or not You did you you did not. You should know. It does not happen by magic.

I thinks that you are right but I really don’t know if I have install the nvidia driver I just follow the tutorial without knowing most of the used command line.

Which tutorial?? Bumblebee??

Always pay attention there may be tests

Well you could go to yast software management and see if any nvidia packages are installed (note packages with nvidia in the names not just found with nvidia search) But if you installed bumblebee and nvidia-bumblebee then a previous driver install may not show but there still may be changes left. That is why you must uninstall a driver before installing a different version. Only you can know if you attempted to use the regular NVIDIA driver or not. Unless you tell use we have no way of knowing what you did or did not do.

can anyone use team viewer to help me. I know it is risky to let someone I don’t know enter my pc with team viewer but it is the only way I have spend much time to configure my nvidia but nothing works.
I can reinstall my opensuse after knowing the steps of configuration.

thanks a lot.

I haven’t found a solution yet. Every time I tried a new solution I got the same problem. Can you please give me more help?

   It’s magic **bumblebe **finally works I thinks that’s because an update of the opensuse.

There is a guide here how to use the NVIDIA GPU without Bumblebee:

https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/512260-Leap-42-1-Optimus-system-with-nvidia-prime-instead-of-bumblebee

Saw you got Bumblebee working. The moderator did not make the thread sticky (eventhough a lot of requests is about nvidia, in particular, optimus) instead they moved it to a forum where it is harder to find. :frowning:

Nevertheless I hope somebody will update the wiki, I am using the time I have free for providing Tumbleweed support for suse-prime.
