NVIDIA driver issue after update

Hi all, just downloaded some system updates today, of one which was a driver/module update for my NVIDIA GeForce 540M card. I run a flight sim on this computer (anyone heard of FlightGear??) but when I loaded up FlightGear after the update I get this in the console:

Error: API mismatch: the NVIDIA kernel module has version 290.10,
but this NVIDIA driver component has version 295.40. Please make
sure that the kernel module and all NVIDIA driver components
have the same version.

Also I get:

VERTEX glCompileShader "/usr/share/flightgear/Shaders/water.vert" FAILED
FRAGMENT glCompileShader "/usr/share/flightgear/Shaders/include_fog.frag" FAILED
FRAGMENT glCompileShader "/usr/share/flightgear/Shaders/water_sine.frag" FAILED
glLinkProgram "" FAILED
VERTEX glCompileShader "/usr/share/flightgear/Shaders/include_fog.vert" FAILED
VERTEX glCompileShader "/usr/share/flightgear/Shaders/default.vert" FAILED
FRAGMENT glCompileShader "/usr/share/flightgear/Shaders/default.frag" FAILED
glLinkProgram "" FAILED
VERTEX glCompileShader "/usr/share/flightgear/Shaders/3dcloud.vert" FAILED
FRAGMENT glCompileShader "/usr/share/flightgear/Shaders/3dcloud.frag" FAILED
glLinkProgram "" FAILED

Which ends in this:

Note the strange pixely square and the unusually flat clouds. On the ground you can also see some dark green, which is not meant to be there.

Update the NVIDIA-Kernel Module to 295.40. Then it works. By the way this new driver crashes my system after a few minutes so i compiled an old driver

Did you reboot after the driver update? If not do it and try again.
