NVIDIA driver install not working, stuck on llvmpipe

I’m on an ASUS TUF Gaming A14 2024 with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU and AMD Ryzen ai 9hx 370 w/ Radon 890m x 24 for my CPU.

I have been trying all day to install the G07 NVIDIA drivers but no matter what method I attempt it either stays using the llvmpipe or boots to a black screen.
I have rolled back several times and I’m unfortunately at a loss for what else I can do. OpenSUSE Tumbleweed has been my last resort after many NVIDIA related OS failures in the past and I would really like to get this system to work.

Please check the already existing threads. There is an issue atm, but a possible fix may be expected the next days.

When posting terminal output, copy the initial command and the complete output in one go. Your provided output is cut off at the top as it is missing the system information including the kernel command line.

apologies, I’m new to posting on forums. ill remember that in the future.

Follow the other thread and when you see that the expected update will fix the black screen issue for others, you may revive this thread and we can support you getting your system up and running with the Nvidia drivers .

I had a similar problem. and solved it by installing the dedicated NVIDIA drivers:

  1. Add the official, refreshable NVIDIA repository:
sudo zypper addrepo --refresh ‘https://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/leap/$releasever’ NVIDIA

  2. Install NVIDIA Drivers (GG07):
    sudo zypper inr

  3. Reboot.

Hope this works for you.
