NVIDIA driver for openSUSE 13.1

From today the repositorie is online:

ftp://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/13.1

more info to install on:
SDB:NVIDIA drivers - openSUSE

In that case, it’s time to install

Thanks for the heads-up!

Thank you!

I’ve installed 13.1 on a netbook with integrated ATI and a new SSD. Notwithstanding the slow CPU (a dual core E-350), it flies. And I haven’t noticed any lag due to the open source ATI driver, it’s really improved since the 12.1 version.

Now it’s time for the nvidia boxes!

I have also noticed that the OSS ATI driver seems to be good on my
desktop system, I may give the Catalyst driver a miss unless I run into
something that really needs it (WebGL might, I’m not sure yet).

Talked too soon… There are still issues with temperature control, apparently. With radeon the temp sensors show ~ 10°C more than before. I ended up installing the proprietary driver from geeko.ioda.net with yast. Temps are now back to normal.

Tonight the 13.1 sub-directory is not there, just 12.2 and 12.3

Unfortunately the ftp link for the nvidia-legacy driver isn’t working. I tried the SB One-Click-Install option and got an error.

When will the link be fixed?

It’s not the link that needs to be fixed.

The whole nvidia repo for 13.1 got removed again.

Thanks for the clear-up wolfi323. Hope nvidia will make it available again soon and that the openSUSE community holds them to doing it.

Bug report submitted… https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=855510#c0

Hope someone cares!

Interesting, thanks for the report.

Hopefully we’ll find out what the issue was. I asked on the factory
mailing list, and someone was looking into it.
