It’s not a kernel problem, but a driver not compatible with 6.17. A new driver is coming, likely in a matter of days.
As you did not provide any terminal output…how should we know whats going on on your system?
Works like a charm with the open kernel module:

Works like a charm with the proprietary driver as well, you just have to ensure that kernel 6.16.8 is not removed fom the system (as explained in post #16 ) by locking it or editing /etc/zypp/zypp.conf
.
I removed nvidia proprietary driver. I installed nvidia open driver instead and it works again.
I had the opposite situation in July this year (kernel 6.15.6-1) and then I had to uninstall nvidia open driver and install the priopretary driver.
Reporting back that today’s update fixed that issue for me.
For those that were facing the same issue;
sudo zypper refresh && sudo zypper dup
Should fix that issue as it did for me.
