NVIDA GTX 660 DKMS Tutorial?

Hello.

First time openSUSE user here. ATM the NVIDIA nouveau driver is installed but it produces GUI (KDE) freezes on my system.
It’s a desktop system with an i5 quad-core with integrated intel graphics (but both monitors are attached to the NVIDIA only).

Is there any tutorial for Tumbleweed users that describes the whole setup procedure **including **what needs to be done to get
a dkms build system that automatically recompiles the driver module each time Tumbleweed get’s a new kernel?

I guess the bumblebee isn’t what I need because I neither have a dual-gpu setup as it’s used in laptops and I can’t find a howto
that describes every step necessary to get this setup working.

Any help appreciated…

TW is different it changes so fast the driver repos can’t keep up the hard way is the only way in TW

Be sure you use the right .run version for your card and the kernel

Sorry, but I don’t understand. A local dkms setup can recompile the nvidia kernel module automatically on each kernel update…

Not entirely if so there would already be one. The RPMS are built to a given kernel/environment You can’t go to far with kernels before you break things. The “compile” that KMS does is more like a link The base driver has to be suitable.
