Ntp server configured on SLES servers was not reachable then also it was sync time with it.

Hello All,

OS: SLES 11 SP1

We had a local NTP server (XX.XX.XXX.XX) configured in our environment and we used this NTP server to sync times to various SLES machines. But after some period this NTP server was removed still in logs it was showing below logs in ntp log file (/var/log/ntp)

*8 Jul 13:28:45 ntpd[4079]: kernel time sync status change 6001
8 Jul 13:45:48 ntpd[4079]: kernel time sync status change 2001
8 Jul 15:28:13 ntpd[4079]: no servers reachable
8 Jul 15:45:17 ntpd[4079]: synchronized to XX.XX.XXX.XX, stratum 2
8 Jul 15:45:17 ntpd[4079]: kernel time sync status change 6001
8 Jul 16:53:34 ntpd[4079]: kernel time sync status change 2001
*
Now we have to find out the date and time since the NTP server was not reachable from client machines.

Could you please let me know how can we get these logs?

Thank you,
Prashant…

Adding more to this issue:
ven though the NTP server was removed the logs were saying that it has been syncronised to the same NTP server which was not there don’t know how is it possible.

Hello,

As far as I can see from your posts, openSUSE is not involved in your problem. These, however, are the openSUSE forums. As a SLES user, you better go to the SLES/SLED forums at https://forums.suse.com/
