I posted this in the October thread by accident. That’s what I get for being up late taking screenshots when I should have been sleeping…
And while I know there’s no real need, I just can’t bring myself to not repost in the correct thread:
I have a hard time with dark themes – I like them in screenshots, but they all seem to have one thing or another with their color scheme that makes them hard to live with.
So far, Blue Joy (the theme I’m running below) has no flaws that I can see. It’s possibly the most gorgeous dark theme I’ve seen for Gnome, and is actually fully usable.
I only wish there was a “Green Joy” theme – I’ve emailed the author to see if he’ll consider redoing in green.
Not much customization yet, still using the default theme and icons, but switched up the menu a bit. I had to use this wallpaper when I switched over to openSUSE. It seemed like a perfect fit.
and here is mine for november. KDE4 1.1.3 with all the kde effects activated(there is no compiz there. Don’t ask about the wallpaper, but, the winter is coming.
Yup! 10 Penguin Points for you, plus a virtual cookie! <:)
It’s Mandriva 2009. I needed something to do while waiting for OpenSUSE 11.1 so I thought I’d check it out.
It’s got a couple of oddities, but I pretty much like it, after the initial frustration it’s starting to grow on me. Suse’s implementation of the KDE4 desktop is better though, so is the theme. Hope I’m not stepping on some Mandriva’s toes here, but in some places (e.g. Window Decoration) the artwork seems really ‘forced’… like it doesn’t really quite ‘fit’.
And the fact that it asks me to select a ‘Profile’ during the boot process (what the …?) and some other things… then again it’s pretty enjoyable to work with. And hey, it’s got rpm’s!
One thing I liked very much is that Mandriva’s installer almost seemed to talk human language… (clear, simple and straightforward). Made the install seem a lot less daunting.
Actually, you’ve got one of the more unusual desktop setups I’ve seen. Is that 11 (12?) workspaces? And I don’t recognize anything in that screenshot. What dock, etc?
