Novell-Nortelplugins

I have just installed 11.1 and looking into things, I see that the networkmanager and gnome network manager are included with nortel vpn support, but I do not see turnpike anywhere in the mix. Have you dropped support for the Nortel plugins? I remember that you have had issues getting it to work with NM .7 but had not heard if anything further had been done?

Without the Nortel plugins, along with the ‘improved’ yast issues, I am afraid anything past 10.3 will not and cannot be looked at as a serious contender to the MS OS. I am currently having to re-scale my plans to roll out opensuse 11.0 due to the nortel issues, and will probably have to roll back to 10.3 so I can use it for the many laptops and remote desktops in use in my company.

Any word on the nortel plugins? Please…

If I go to http://software.opensuse.org/search and search for Turnpike I
see the packages out there. I have no idea why they don’t show up
otherwise but this at least looks promising. I need to test this as
well with my wife’s computer once we get it back from the dealer (making
some weird noises) and I’ll post back if I remember to set that up and I
can get it working. I’d appreciate hearing your results as well.

Good luck.

ab,

Sorry it has been a long month and a half.

I found the turnpike package for Nortel and racoond. However I did a zypper install turnpike, which it dutifully installed that package and dependancies, however if I attempt to install netwrokmanager-nortel or network-manager-nortel-gnome it give me an error regarding NO nortel source is available.

I believe that the installation chain is broken here. I would really like to see the nortel stuff get functioning properly on 11.0 and 11.1 but as of this morning, it still is not working.

Anything ever get working on this? I still need to get the vpn client running again, as it has been broken in all but 10.3… Anyone?

I found the novell-nortel plugins ver. 0.13-54.1 on the internet this evening. they installed, and finally got the gnome-networkmanager-nortel-vpn to install. It has the menu and everything,. but now I get continuous failed to contact IKE process or some such…

WHY IS THIS STILL BROKEN? I mean really folks, we cannot sit on 10.3 forever. I am still confused as to why it broke… I thought the idea was to improve opensourse, not to break something that was working.

/racoond restart
Shutting down IPsec IKE daemon (racoon) done
Setting up IPsec policies done
Starting IPsec IKE daemon (racoon) done
