Briefly touched on this in another post to do with Speaker Crackle, but since having more issues, where I beleive I am not getting any/many notifications from the system (Plasma6/Wayland/Tumbleweed), at all.
I get a very quick notification when the system starts, but then if I go into notifications to check, all I get is a message saying “Notification service is not available.” and “Notifications are currently provided by ErikReider SwaynotificationCenter”.
Anybody else?
Why do you have SwayNotificationCenter installed when you use Plasma?
My question exactly…
Had never heard of this until I started having issues. Installed by some other app? Can’t find any reference to it in Yast Software, or any searches on the system…
I’m confused.
Have created new issue in Github, to try and find out…
Really?

Have found and removed…
Not sure what happened there…

Maybe, you installed something which requires the Sway Tiling Wayland Compositor and the GTK notification daemon …
- If, that something is still installed then, at the next software update that something will reinstall the Sway packages – again …
Check for the dependencies with –
> zypper search --requires-pkg SwayNotificationCenter
> rpm --query --whatrequires SwayNotificationCenter
Repeat the query for “recommends” and “suggests”.
- The package “sway” indicates some “required” dependencies on this Leap 15.6 system.
Thanks for the detailed reply.
Ran:
and it returned:
rpm --query --whatrequires swaynotificationcenter
no package requires swaynotificationcenter
So I’m buggered if I know where it came from…??
Uninstalled, and all seems good, so far.
Thanks.
