I installed Lotus Notes 8 (C1A7SML.tar, I think it’s 8.01) on openSUSE
11.1 (x86_64, default installation).
When I klick on the icon of the application it starts but freezes right
after displaying the Notes-desktop. Nothing can be done except killing
the application (neither the menues are working nor the close button of
the window itself). I’m using Gnome-desktop and installed also the
32bit-package of libgnomeprint (libgnomeprint-32bit).

After a while a dialoguebox appears saying: “This software has
encountered a problem and needs to close.” and “Failed to login:
CLFRJ0010E: Notes initialization failed.”
Interesting workaround. Thank-you for posting back. This may be
something you want to send to IBM so their documentation can be updated
assuming it does not mention this workaround already.
Good luck.
