notebook with Optimus or only Intel 4xxx?

Hi everybody,
I’m using openSuse Tumbleweed in two old notebook, a Panasonic CF 29 1.3 ghz Centrino with 1,256 GB ram Intel video card and a Asus U6Sg 1.8 ghz core duo with 2 GB ram Nvidia card and when I’m abroad openSuse 13.1 on a Asus A7V 1.73 ghz 2 GB ram and mobility radeon x700, all with the 32 bit version

my productive system is a macbook pro 15 2012 2.3 ghz 16 gb ram but I want to switch definitely to openSuse

I’ve found the Dell precision m4800 FHD base may replace the mac but I’m wondering if this machine will fit openSuse 13.1 or I’m going to face problem with his hardware, I know there is bumblebee project and thinking to use it because of the Nvidia Optimus

or in alternative a less performance machine as HP Zbook 14 with only the integrated video card or similar machine

is anyone there using the precision m4800 in such a configuration with openSuse?

any experience or advice for my question?

Cheers

I can only give a small hint that your chances are good.
My office laptop is a Dell precision M4600 with openSUSE 13.1 64bit and
it has optimus used with bumblebee. It works well.

thanks for your feedback Martin!

I ended up to choose e Panasonic CF 53 i5 3340

of course there is non comparison on HW and Screen between the two machine but I needed one with high protection for extreme temperature and humidity and the use I will do is for long writing

so the dilemma was to get something with high performance or with higher protection and at the end I preferred the CF 53 for is capability in harsh environment

plus this machine supose to have high Linux compatibility.

I will inform when I’ve installed 13.1
