Notebook recommendation

Earlier this year I bought a Samsung Chromebook for my girlfriend. I believe it to be an excellent machine for U.S. $249. I did install openSUSE 12.3 to experiment but reverted to Chrome as there were few benefits for her. The major problem is that it cannot run Skype as it does not have an Intel compatible processor and Skype does not offer a version for the Exynos 5.

Now I want to buy a similar machine, preferably Samsung, for my own use that runs an Intel compatible processor, and I will run openSUSE 12.3 or newer version. I would like to keep the price under U.S. $400 and insist on a SSD drive. Can someone recommend a model based on their own use?

Thanks in advance.

So I can’t help in that price range, but my new Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook is a great small laptop that runs Windows 8.1 and openSUSE 12.3 and all hardware works like a champ.

Price depends on features you get like CPU speed and SSD size but its around $800-$1000 in most places. Its highly recommended by me.

Thank You,
