not sure why Skype won't record sound

Hi everyone,

I have a very strange problem with skype. It won’t take the input from
my microphone, as in the other side doesn’t hear anything. The strange
thing is, on pavucontrol I can see my microphone recording when I talk
into it, and I can record and play back on Audacity. It seems like my
microphone works fine in every case except when I want to use it to talk
on skype. I ran the skype test call, and it doesn’t play back.

I am using skype 4.0.0.8 (I just upgraded because the lower version had
the same problem) on openSUSE 12.1, 64 bit, box #1 below. Here also is
my audio hardware info:

# lspci | grep Audio
00:14.2 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA)
01:05.1 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc RS780 Azalia controller

Also, I am using pulseaudio-1.1-1.2.x86_64.

Any ideas?

Haven’t been able to get my plugin in mic to work, but I did get voice
on skype to work through the mic that is attached to my a4tech camera.
It was setting for a digital input in pulse audio. So no need to press
any further on this one.
