Not being forced to change passwords

Under YaST -> Local security I’ve configured password settings of:

Min password length: 8
Number of passwords to remember: 6

Min age: 1
Max age: 21
Days before password expire warning: 3

Given that - why haven’t I been requested to reset my password for this account?

Don’t the settings above apply to all accounts?

Thank you

Anyone? Please?

Strange - you’d think it would apply to all accounts, yes?

I don’t know the answer, but since you haven’t gotten a response, I’ll take a look later and see what I can see. Might be able to help.

Thanks - any help would be great.

Ok - I think I’ve got it.

Under YaST -> Local security

This action will change the default settings. Existing users are not impacted. New users are - they inherit these new settings. Test it by creating a new user, and check the settings.

Now go to YaST -> User and Group Management and Edit an existing local user.
Check their Password Settings tab. I’ll bet they are still set at the old default. Change the settings here, and see what happens!

lol!<<kablooey! your machine will blow up!>><< no, no, just kidding, just kidding.>>

BTW, there is a checkbox to force an immediate change, if you want it.

Yup tested - you are spot on. Many thanks
