Non-VLC Media Players Not Recognizing Media Codecs

Hey all. I’m having trouble getting openSUSE 13.1 XFCE Rhythmbox (not VLC) working with the restricted formats and was wondering if someone could help me figure it out. I’ve installed the codecs listed on the restricted formats page on the openSUSE website (but am not having any luck. I really dislike the library management of VLC and am looking for any advice on how to go about solving this problem.

Ready, willing and able to post and relevant information about my system / installed packages.

It’s amazing how one little thing can make so much difference. I somehow, idiotically, missed the section where you change the package sources to the packman repository. I was mucking about with GStreamer for about 2-3 hours, all that could have been prevented if I had just read more carefully. Lesson painfully learned. Thanks again, now I can learn Linux and listen to my sweet Boards of Canada collection!
