non-alphanumeric key ... in /etc/environment error

Fresh new install of Opensuse 11.2 (gnome). I’m getting those errors at login :

Nov 16 08:28:33 mypc su: pam_env(su:setcred): non-alphanumeric key 'alias aumix=padsp aumix' in /etc/environment', ignoring
Nov 16 08:28:33 mypc su: pam_env(su:setcred): non-alphanumeric key 'alias sox=padsp sox' in /etc/environment', ignoring
Nov 16 08:28:33 mypc su: pam_env(su:setcred): non-alphanumeric key 'alias timidity=timidity -Oe' in /etc/environment', ignoring

Seems like the pam_env module don’t like spaces.

Any suggestions on how to get rid of those errors appreciated.

Getting the same thing, this was after I updated from 11.1 to 11.2. Would appreciate help in resolving the issue.

Would it do any harm to just comment out these aliases or are they needed specifically by the system?

I tried running manually ‘padsp aumix’ and ‘padsp sox’ but it returns an error (sox not found). So I just commented out those 3 lines in /etc/environment.
