Nokia E72 umts bluetooth

Hi,

i am looking for recent update of the following tutorial: SDB:Nokia E72 umts bluetooth - openSUSE

I am not able to setup my nokia e72 as modem via bluetooth connection on openSUSE 12.1 KDE (on GNOME everything works like charm directly during bluetooth device pairing procedure). On KDE I am able only pair nokia e72 as a bluetooth device, but there is no simple way how to setup nokia e72 as mobile modem for internet connection.

Any hints or advise?

Still no answer?

Is there anybody, who si able setup nokia mobile phone as modem via bluetooth at KDE 4.7.2 (openSUSE 12.1)?

Still no answer? No Nokia users???

I am a nokia user. Always use windows for this as it just works with the old pc suite.

Best regards,
Greg

This is exactly what I do not looking for … :slight_smile:

There should be any solution which is working at KDE!!! Any Windows based solution is completely out of my intention.

It works for me out of the box in KDE using USB cable, nokia E51 and networkmanager plasmoid. Did You try this first ?

Best regards,
Greg

I am pretty sure, that nokia e51 is very similar to e72.
Yes, of course … with USB cable everything works. The problem is bluetooth connection.

I see :slight_smile: I’ll try this myself then and report back my results.

Best regards,
Greg

For me it doesn’t work with the USB cable. What do You get in /var/log/NetworkManager ? :

Here’s my output :

Nov 30 21:05:30 opensuse NetworkManager[1642]: <info> (ttyACM0): now unmanaged
Nov 30 21:05:30 opensuse NetworkManager[1642]: <info> (ttyACM0): device state change: 3 -> 1 (reason 36)

Nov 30 21:05:58 opensuse NetworkManager[1642]: <info> (ttyACM0): device state change: 2 -> 3 (reason 0)

I can browse my phone memory with bluetooth but for NetworkManager the connection for phone doesn’t even show up. It shows up when connected with USB but still not connecting outside.

Best regards,
Greg

What openSUSE distro you are using? openSUSE 11.4 or 12.1?

Your /var/log/NetworkManager looks like openSUSE 11.4 output. I will be able send you my /var/log/NetworkManager output tommorow.

I am able browse my Nokia E72 with bluetooth but for NetworkManager the connection for phone doesn’t even show up, too. In GNOME everything works without any problems.

Yes I’m on 11.4. From what You’re saying it looks as a plasmoid bug. It’s possible to install and use the gnome-nm applet in KDE. There is a guide here :
http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/wireless/456231-gave-up-knetworkmanager-made-networkmanager-gnome-work-kde4.html

I’ve got no idea if it works in 12.1 or not but I think it should. Other than that reporting a bug in our bugzilla might work to solve to problem as well :slight_smile:
