No Xserver after update 12.1

LS,

Can’t get an xserver to work on my system upon reboot after an update. No gui login. Trying to start with startx gives following messages :

Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server
/etc/X11/xim: Checking whether an input method should be started.
sourcing /etc/sysconfig/language to get the value of INPUT_METHOD
INPUT_METHOD is not set or empty (no user selected input method).
Trying to start a default input method for the locale nl_NL.UTF-8 …
There is no default input method for the current locale.
Dummy input method “none” (do not use any fancy input method by default)

Any ideas about what can be wrong?

Thank you in advance.

What did you update?

Cheers / Saludos,

(from 11.4 x86_64 “Celadon” (Minas Tirith))

startx no longer works if evoked as a normal user (see the release notes of release 11.4, you can find them in the wiki)

As already asked, what was it that you updated that caused this to occur … (it is common to see users report such behaviour (which would actually be expected to occur, but certainly not from the perspective of the unaware individual) in the case where they have previously installed the prop. video drivers (which are built against the specific kernel installed at the time) and then go install a kernel update without first uninstalling the proprietary video driver )

IIRC I already replied in another thread, reinstall the ATI driver. In the log we see that the fglrx module is not being found.
