No working connection

Hi all ,
my internet connection is not working at all on an opensuse 11.1 fresh install …
i have ehternet card :

Realtek RTL8169/8110 Family PCI Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20)

i tried to make a new connection via NetworkManager…entered the ip , subnet mask and the default gateway…but still nothing…
i went to yast > network > DSL…which i think it could have an internet connection configuration in it…but found nothing…in both available tabs…

its just like i dont have any internet access !
PS : the connection was not working on the live cd too…

so what should i do please ? i`m new to this

Can you ping your default Gateway? Can you ping 208.67.222.222 (OpenDNS servers) Maybe you have a DNS problem.

Try and che.
ck to see if you default gateway was set properly too. I find sometimes it does not set and I have to go back and change it manually
