hey all i have virtualbox installed with a windows 7 guest and opensuse 13.2 host and am trying to connect a usb device to my guest but it says no usb devices detected, i did the rules thing and that didnt help, i am a member of the vboxusers group etc and i dont know what else to try, i am also connected to a domain on both the host and guest os and login using my domain name and password.
Hi,
First we need to know where did you got that vbox package from, from vbox.org or from the suse repos. If it is from the suse repos then have a look here.
https://en.opensuse.org/VirtualBox
You might need to install the guest additions as well because without it only usb1 is supported iirc. Here is some info about that.
https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch04.html#additions-windows
Good luck.
You also need to describe what USB device you’re trying to attach.
Some will have fewer issues than others.

Hi, have you tried installing “Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack” ?
Please post:
uname -a
zypper se -si vbox virtualbox
