I recently moved from 13.2 to 42.1 via clean install. I installed the vlc packages from Packman, but now I notice that there is no UPNP under “Local Networks” on the Playlist window, which I use to watch TV from my HDHomeRun tuner. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
VLC is built without UPNP support on Leap, probably because libupnp is not available in SLE12 on which Leap is partly based.
As libupnp is included in Leap, you might want to file a bug report.
Thanks for the explanation. I just filed the bug: https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=959100
In case you haven’t noticed, Packman’s vlc package is meanwhile built with UPNP support in Leap as well, and some other stuff that was missing before (projectM e.g.).
They must’ve added it recently, as I was using Packman’s version. But, I see that it does indeed work now. Life is good again.
Yes, shortly after you filed your bug report…
# rpm -q --changelog vlc
