No Update Ropository Configured Yet??

No Repository Configuration???

Hi there!

So I’m new’ish to Linux and very new’ish to openSUSE so I could have been caused by my own doing but I’m not sure.

Anyhow, here is a screenshot of the full error message.

Not sure what is causing this but its new since switching to Tumbleweed.

Is this something I should be fixing? If so any help would be greatly appreciated.

No.
There is no update repo in Tumbleweed (well, there is one for emergency cases, but it is empty all the time). Tumbleweed is a rolling distribution, you always get the latest package versions through the main repo.
That also implies that you cannot use YaST->Online Updates for updating your system, because that one is intended to install security and bugfix “patches” from the update repo.

Use YaST->Software Management or “zypper dup” to update your system.
The desktop’s update applet should be fine too most of the time, but there might be situations it cannot cope with. You should fall back to zypper or YaST then.

Oh I did not know these things so thanks for the info!

IMO Tumbleweed is not well suited for novices.

So I’ve heard but I’m here now and things are going (knock on wood) overall rather well thus far.

Gonna see how long I can keep things going functionally with tumbleweed and reevaluate if/when I mess things horribly.

Bravo! for you. Enjoy the ride.
