No torrenting links for today's openSUSE installs.

Applies to both Tumbleweed and 15.2.

I haven’t looked far, but I haven’t yet found another distro that has deprecated torrent downloads.
Torrents are today still the easiest and most reliable way to transfer a very large file… Unlike HTTP/HTTPS and FTP/FTPS/SFTP protocols, better torrent apps automatically checksum every individual chunk of data so that errors can be fixed almost in real time… With the other protocols unless you use a download manager that doesn’t happen and you can checksum only after downloading the entire file.

Anyone know why openSUSE suddenly did this?

Hi
Not sure, I see it’s present for Leap 15.2;

http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/15.2/iso/openSUSE-Leap-15.2-DVD-x86_64.iso.mirrorlist

Has it ever been there for Tumbleweed? When you have a couple of releases in a day (like yesterday), it would need to be over written while a user may still be downloading an iso image…

Yes,
Don’t see how I missed those links for LEAP.
But, no P2P Bittorrent for Tumbleweed.

I believe this is the place to file an issue: GitHub - openSUSE/software-o-o: The site behind https://software.opensuse.org. It is the default web interface to download openSUSE distributions and to search for OBS packages. Packaged at https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/openSUSE:infrastructure:software.opensuse.org
It doesn’t seem to have ever a torrent file for TW though.

Hi
Again, I have never seen a torrent for Tumbleweed, it’s not possible as too many updates in play… if you want I can ping the Release manager and ask, but my other contacts in the know confirm no torrent.

That seems to be my experience, too.

The turnover of new versions is probably too fast to make it useful. Most people upgrade their current system (“zypper dup”) rather than downloading a new iso.
