Hi,
After a successful install and update of SuSE 11 on my rig, I set about customizing it… wallpaper… done… sensors… done… etc. until… bootup resolution… ACK!
After I changed the default boot resolution from 1280x1024 to 1680x1050 (mf FP’s native res), no more splash screen on boot… not even a background as there normally is for the scrolling text. I checked /etc/bootsplash/themes, there is a config file and images for 1680x1050, so any idea why it’s not working?
Doing a grep for splash in /var/log/boot.msg returns the following suspicious statements:
<5>Kernel command line: root=/dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_WDC_WD5000AAKS-_WD-WCAPW2212610-part6 resume=/dev/sda5 splash=silent vga=0x369
<6>bootsplash: silent mode.
boot/82-resume.userspace.sh: line 48: /proc/splash: No such file or directory
<notice>startproc: execve (/sbin/resmgrd) /sbin/resmgrd ], CONSOLE=/dev/console ROOTFS_FSTYPE=ext3 SHELL=/bin/sh TERM=linux ROOTFS_FSCK=0 LC_ALL=POSIX INIT_VERSION=sysvinit-2.86 REDIRECT=/dev/tty1 COLUMNS=210 PATH=/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin vga=0x369 RUNLEVEL=5 PWD=/ SPLASHCFG= PREVLEVEL=N LINES=65 HOME=/ SHLVL=2 splash=silent SPLASH=no ROOTFS_BLKDEV=/dev/disk/by-id/scsi-SATA_WDC_WD5000AAKS-_WD-WCAPW2212610-part6 _=/sbin/startproc DAEMON=/sbin/resmgrd ]
(there are several more of these, with different apps named)
and finally:
Skipped services in runlevel 5: smbfs splash
So, any idea what’s up?
Thanks!
