no sound

Every time i log in i get notification
kde detected that one or more internal sound devices were removed
and now my sound doesn’t work.

I don’t know how it came to these so can some one please help me.

Thanks for any advice

My first advice would be:

  1. tell which version of openSUSE you use (we can not know, or do you think we can?);
  2. this being in the hardware sub-forums, tell what the hardware is (we can not guess, can we?)
  3. can you do any action with that noticication? and when yes, what did you do?
  4. when you look into YaST > Hardware > Sound, is the device there, are there more devices?

  1. what’s in the logs? Sorry, I know nothing about KDE logs

I have opensuse 12.1 64 bit, with hda intel pch sound card, conexant cx20590 and intel cougarpoint hdmi modules.
I can close the notification or i can chose to forget the sound card, but because i don’t want to forget it i just close it.
In yast i have something with index 0, intel corporation hardwer module, i can even hear test sound if i play it but nothing else works.

I don’t know why this started to happen i just know i noticed it because of flash player that just stoped working

Sorry don’t know how to get to loggs

Oh and now i remember i think i got this notification since i onec pluged in a webcam

And you removed the webcam later? You better acknowledge the messagge to confirm the webcam is gone.

Yes, when it asks me if i want to forget the webcamera i click yes

if i run speaker-test -c2 -l5 -twav i get back
speaker-test 1.0.24.2

Playback device is default
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels
WAV file(s)
ALSA lib conf.c:3700:(snd_config_update_r) Cannot access file /etc/alsa-pulse.conf
ALSA lib pcm.c:2212:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM default
Playback open error: -2,No such file or directory

and i ran find to look for that alsa-pulse file it dosn’t exist in my computer, is it posible that this is the problem

You better ask in the multimedia subforum.

And please when you post computer text, do this between CODE tags: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/information-new-users/advanced-how-faq-read-only/451526-posting-code-tags-guide.html
And include the prompt, the command and the output in one copy/paste sweep of the mouse. Thus no need to tell stories like “If I run …” because it is all there.

Ok, after installing alsa-plugins-pulse i move forward from that error and now i got

speaker-test 1.0.24.2

Playback device is default
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels
WAV file(s)
ALSA lib confmisc.c:768:(parse_card) cannot find card ‘0’
ALSA lib conf.c:4241: (_snd_config_evaluate) function snd_func_card_driver returned error: No such file or directory
ALSA lib confmisc.c:392: (snd_func_concat) error evaluating strings
ALSA lib conf.c:4241: (_snd_config_evaluate) function snd_func_concat returned error: No such file or directory
ALSA lib confmisc.c:1251: (snd_func_refer) error evaluating name
ALSA lib conf.c:4241: (_snd_config_evaluate) function snd_func_refer returned error: No such file or directory
ALSA lib conf.c:4720: (snd_config_expand) Evaluate error: No such file or directory
ALSA lib pcm.c:2212: (snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM sysdefault
Playback open error: -2,No such file or directory

ok after going to yast>sound and editing sound card and restarting the values i now get the sound form computer but the test returns

speaker-test 1.0.24.2

Playback device is default
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels
WAV file(s)
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1018:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
Playback open error: -16,Device or resource busy

so if anyone has any idea what that is i would be very thankfull

Have you looked at this
http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Audio_troubleshooting

I think that the problem was there was nothing that controled the volume, because after i installed some sound mix program everything worked after installing computer. I mean i again got the pproblem with no sound card but after a again reseted the values it was gone and now everything works fine.

I saw that page and the only good thing from it was the command for testing so that i figured out what was the problem, but the solution i got from here:

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=725701#c3

Please reread my remark about using CODE tags. This is unreadable.
