Sound works in VLC, Banshee, etc…
When usinf Firefox & Opera, I get no sound. It worked earlier today, and all of a sudden just quit. I uninstalled Flash & re-installed it- no luck.

Reference firefox, check to see if you still have mplayerplug-in and MPlayer installed. You can easily check to see if have it installed by typing:
rpm -qa | grep layer
Note, the title “No Sound” to this thread is VERY misleading. I know there may be a temptation to put a “dramatic” title to see if one can “grab” attention, but in my experience that works to the opposite, and puts people “off”. The more exact and precise the title, the more likely one is to attract the attention of users who might know the solution. For example, in this case I would have recommended a title “No sound when using Firefox/Opera in 11.1/KDE4” or “No sound when using Firefox/Opera in 11.1/KDE3”
Yes, I do have it (mplayer plugin) And I got sound in FF to work…sort of.
I uninstalled then reinstalled
“pullin-flash-player - Placeholder for Adobe Flash PlugIn”
The only problem is before sound starts it makes a strange noise. It sounds like feedback/distortion for about 2-3 seconds before sound comes on.
