No sound with alsa on Opensuse 11.0 and Gnome

Hello:

I am new to Opensuse and followed the directions on this page SDB:AudioTroubleshooting - openSUSE. What I came up with was that I have the STAC9750,51 codec but searching the alsa site did not come up with any hits. Here are my particulars:

If anyone has an idea, I would appreciate it. Sound is turned on. My user ID is a member of the audio group. Sound was not produced under root.
