My internal laptop speakers aren’t working after TW update on 14th June. Everything is up-to-date and fine now except the audio. HDMI and Bluetooth audio works.

Just to eliminate one potential problem - Is this machine dual boot, and if so, is Windows fast startup/boot turned off?

Laptop make/model details?

it is dual boot. but it is dual boot since forever and this problem has occurred suddenly now. i will still look into fast startup mode.

Problem still persists after turning off fast startup in windows

Can you supply laptop make and model details as requested? It might help others to provide more specific advice.

In the meantime, please check this thread out:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1894880#p1894880
You could try the kernel option as discussed there.

This may need a bug report to progress.

Laptop details. Thanks for all the help so far.

Can you try the following workaround as mentioned in this thread (and the last thread link I provided)?
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=275737

Here’s how you can add the option to the grub boot entry on a temporary basis

It can be made persistent if it results in working laptop speakers.

adding snd-intel-dspcfg.dsp_driver=1 to bootloader solves the problem! thanks a lot sir. i had this issue since i long time and tried a lot of things but always had to use older snapshots. thanks again.
