no sound on speaker after upgrading system

Hi all,

After installing OpenSUSE 13.1 KDE, my sound worked fine. But after installing some updates to make the system up-to-date, there’s no sound on speaker, there’s only sound when I plug the headphone in.

Thanks for helps!

Try restarting machine

GNOME 3.10.1
openSUSE 13.1 (Bottle) (x86_64) 64-bit
Kernel Linux 3.11.6-4-desktop

restarted, but no change, still no sound on speaker :frowning:

Did you check if there was a pulseaudio update?
Try reverting back to the previous one.

Sounds like this bug:

Is headphones selected in “Configure Desktop”->Multimedia->Audio and Video Settings->Audio Hardware Setup?
Try to change it. If it changes back after a reboot, you experience the same bug.

I would try to roll back a possible pulseaudio update as was already suggested. Enter YaST->Software Management and type “pulse” into the search field. If some of those packages are marked red, right-click on them and select “Update Unconditionally”.

If that doesn’t help, you could disable PulseAudio in YaST->Hardware->Sound->Other->PulseAudio Configuration if you don’t depend on it.

I have had the same problem, I made the sound card the Primary card and disabled both the Midi and Stream settings in yast. SUCCESS now got sound !! :peace:

My wife had the same problem, I found the volume was set at zero in yast. yast>hardware>sound
