i dont here any system sounds or any sound from any player or flash.
Here is the output of a variety of commands.

My ALSA information is at:
http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=ac1e36152dfd569f671fee0108cd2f937a4ecc62

At least one of your PC’s problem can be seen there in that rpm quote, and can also be seen here from the script output:

!!ALSA Version
!!------------

Driver version: 1.0.17
Library version:
Utilities version: 1.0.19

You have the old 1.0.17 alsa driver with the 1.0.19 utilities and likely the 1.0.19 libraries. Looking at the rpms you are missing the git driver, and instead the driver is coming from the 1.0.17 alsa thats embedded in the kernel. If you are using git (and you need to use git to get sound working on the HP DV5) then you can not rely on the 1.0.17 in the kernel, but you need to install the alsa-kmp-driver-pae, which you are missing.

There is guidance here for updating alsa (including the 3 commands for installing alsa-driver-kmp-pae): Alsa-update - openSUSE

Note you MUST send six zypper commands for your alsa update for your kernel version. If you have problems formulating those commands, based on the very specific examples given, post here and I’ll give you the commands.

thank you oldpc
i will update them and get back

Everything is now working fine
Thank you again Oldcpu

Super! Congratulations. I’m glad to read it is working.
